Today is an exciting day for Minnie Mouse and her fans. Minnie Mouse is receiving her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fittingly, Mickey Mouse will join her when she receives the honor. Mickey Mouse was given his star back in 1978, when he was 50.
Minnie Mouse first debuted in the film “Steamboat Willie” in 1928. She may be turning 90, but Minnie Mouse remains a fashion icon and a licensing powerhouse. She joins a list of distinguished Disney characters that also have stars on the Walk of Fame. These Disney cohorts include Donald Duck, Snow White, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh and Kermit the Frog. There are over 2,600 stars on the Walk of Fame, which is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and maintained by Hollywood Historic Trust.
Minnie Mouse continues to make new fans through her presence in the Disney theme parks and her starring roles on the Disney Channel. She is instantly recognizable with her red and white polka dot dress and bow. Minnie Mouse’s ceremony at the Hollywood Walk of Fame will include special guest speakers Bob Iger, CEO & Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, as well as global pop icon and judge of ABC’s American Idol, Katy Perry.
