Disney After Hours Anyone?

I have had the opportunity to attend two After Hours Events at the Magic Kingdom this past year and they were both incredible. The most negative comment I hear regarding the After Hours Events is, “you only get three hours in the park and for that price you are crazy”. I have to admit my brother was actually in that group of people so I was determined by the end of the night I was going to make him a fan.

On the nights we attended After Hours the Magic Kingdom was scheduled to close at 10:00 PM. You are allowed to enter the park at 7:00 PM but we were actually on Main Street at 6:30 PM. The early entry time allowed us to grab a lobster roll at the Columbia Harbour House and settle in for Happily Ever After.

If you have not visited the Columbia Harbour House you are missing out!
This is view from the hub in front of Casey’s Corner. Great spot and easy access to Casey’s mini-corndogs!!

After the fireworks we headed to the Haunted Mansion. I highly suggest not trying to hit one of the Mountains since people will try to make those the last one they can fit in before they are required to leave at 10:00 PM.

After we left the Haunted Mansion we headed to Space Mountain and on the way we found our first of many ice cream carts. Who can pass up a FREE Mickey Bar or Sandwich? Remember free and unlimited Ice Cream, Popcorn, and Coke products!!

Free Ice Cream at WDW Makes Everyone Smile!!

Since both tracks were running at Space Mountain we encountered the following lines (what lines!)…there was a similar wait time at Big Thunder Mountain. Wait times averaged less than 5 minutes!!

The availability of the rides allowed us the opportunity to experience the rides with just our group and provided us with memorable photos.

One drawback of the show is there are only two characters available for a photo opp but who can pass up a pic with Mickey and Minnie when there is a short wait time?

No trip to WDW is complete without meeting Mickey & Minnie!!

After spending the days in the hot sun, the crowds, and long wait times at the parks my brother enjoyed the cool weather and became a firm believer in the Magic of After Hours! He is ready to go back and as all of us are he is excited about the Villains After Hours Event.

Even with two Buzz Blasters….Mark is still a Star Cadet!

I need to remind you that even though the park closed at 1:00 AM we were not required to leave until 2:00 AM. This made for a great opportunity to take some great pictures!

In short the After Hours Events are a great way to experience the park with low crowds, minimal if no wait times, several attractions, free ice cream, popcorn, & Coca Cola products, & incredible photo opportunities. We were able experience the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain three times, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. twice, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tea Cups, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, and the Astro Orbiter. I have two knee replacements and believe me there was no running to the next attraction.

Oh did I forget to mention the sun is not beating down on you? An outstanding plan to beat the Florida Heat! It is very important to note the monorail to the resorts & ticket center is not running. You will have three options of transportation…a bus, a boat, or walk to the Contemporary and call an Uber or a Lyft.
